Obituary

Alan E. Stuepfert, 69, of LaMoille died Oct. 10, 2010, in Mendota Lutheran Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Clarion with the Rev. Kevin Weeks officiating. Burial will be at Clarion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. Mr. Stuepfert was born July 22, 1941, in Mendota to Leroy and Olga (Florschuetz) Stuepfert. He married Barbara Barkman on May 14, 1967, in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. He graduated with the class of 1959 from LaMoille High School and served nine years on the LaMoille Community Unit School District board and was a Clarion Township trustee for 25 years. He served with the U.S. Army Military Police and farmed in the LaMoille area. He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and active with various committees of the church. Alan was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He thoroughly enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren and it gave him great pleasure to learn of their activities. He is survived by his wife; three sons, Jeffrey (Kristin) Stuepfert of Yorkville, Douglas (Nicole Norris) Stuepfert of Arlington and Phillip (Carissa) Stuepfert of Yorkville; nine grandchildren; one sister, Annette (Jim) Stamberger of LaMoille; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials may be directed to Mendota Lutheran Home, Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church or the donor's choice.
