Alice Jeanette Baughman, 88, of Mendota died Jan. 10, 2017 at the Mendota Lutheran Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14 at First United Methodist Church, Mendota with Rev. Kent Svendsen officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13 at the church. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota handled the arrangements.
Alice was born June 28, 1928 in San Benito, Texas to Paul and Merval (Duffield) Merritt. She married Jack Baughman on Jan. 24, 1953 in Decatur.
Survivors include her husband of Mendota; two daughters, Kathi (Wayne) Stamberger of LaMoille and Lori (Jeff) Simonton of Mendota; three sons, Michael (Faith) Jett of Mendota, Jack "Jay" (Debra) Baughman, Jr. of LaGrange and Robert Baughman of Mendota; nine grandchildren, Ryan and Allyse Jett, Brian (Amanda) Stamberger, Jason (Shelly) Stamberger, Jordan and Lindsey Baughman, Rachel (Joe) Buchanan, Paige Simonton and Tracy Wright; and seven great-grandchildren, Blake, Trent, Gavin, Jaxon, Dominik, Ashtyn and Harper Stamberger.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and James Merritt; and one sister, Janice Wells.
Alice was a member of First United Methodist Church and also a member of the church circle. She graduated from Mt. Zion High School. Alice and Jack lived in Mendota for 57 years after moving here from Blue Mound. She was a member of Mendota Jr. Women's Club and belonged to the Shady Oaks Country Club where she was an avid golfer. She was a homemaker who loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed flowers, gardening and reading books.
