Allan W. Zimmerman, 80, of Compton, Il. passed away April 15, 2022 at Serenity Hospice and Home, Oregon, Il.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Compton with Pastor Jeff Schlesinger officiating. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation will be 9:00-11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota is handling arrangements.
Allan was born June 18, 1941 in Mendota, to Gilbert and Alma (Kaufman) Zimmerman. He married Elaine (Truckenbrod) Eich on March 16, 2002. They have all preceded him in death.
Allan graduated from Mendota Township High School in June 1959. He was a farmer his entire life, starting before graduation. He loved being outside and farming. He had an extensive farm shop and could make almost anything he needed on the farm or do anything needed to modify a piece of equipment to his liking. Allan and his buddy Gale attended many farm sales always looking for a bargain. Allan loved NASCAR racing (especially Dale Earnhardt) and watched as many races as he could. He also was a Chciago Bulls, Blackhawks and Bears fan and liked almost any sport. Allan was a life long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Compton. He served his church as an usher, a past council member and was on the cemetery board. He worked on many projects around the church and cemetery. He was a Trustee of the Compton Fire Department and a member of the Lee County Farm Bureau.
He is survived by his sister, Charlene Zimmerman, of Compton, step-children Brian (Cheryl) Eich, Rebecca Eich and Sandra Eich and by many cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Serenity Hospice and Home, Compton Fire Department or Immanuel Lutheran Church
