Ann Marie (Schmitt) Wujek, 94, of Mendota, passed away Wednesday, August 1, at Mendota Lutheran Home.
Cremation rights have been accorded. Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., in Holy Cross Church, Mendota with Rev. Peter Pilon officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Tuesday at Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota.
Ann was born May 6, 1924, in Mendota, the daughter of Frank and Susanna (Bromenschenkel) Schmitt. She married Steve Wujek on October 31, 1944. He preceded her in death June 2, 1975.
Ann was raised and educated in Mendota. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. She was a homemaker and worked at various part time jobs during her life. She enjoyed being with family, traveling and playing card games. Ann will be deeply missed by her family.
She is survived by five children, David (Cheri) Wujek of Galesburg, Richard (Vicki) Wujek of Mendota, Larry Wujek of Mendota, Peggy Heinz of Bloomington, and Diane (Richard) Lang of Germantown Hills; six grandchildren, Robert, Stephen, Scott, Kellie, Colin and Hillary; two great-grandchildren, Makayla and Patrick; four sisters-in-law: Gladys Schmitt, Arlene Schmitt, Celeste Schmitt and Mary Catherine Wujek; one brother-in-law, Edward Wujek; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were five brothers, Frank, Donald, Ralph, Robert, and Jim "Stymie" Schmitt and eight sisters, Sister Verona, Gertrude Jauch Weber, Elizabeth Engels, Catheryne Schmitt, Ruth Schmitt, Francile Stremlau, Mary Dean, and Suzann Stremlau.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mendota Area Senior Services (MASS), or to the donor's choice.
