Arlene was born in Amboy on December 7, 1941 to Herman and Rose (Kretschmer) Bialas. She was the youngest of 3 siblings. She married Ramon E. (Bud) Archer on May 1, 1960 and they were married for 60 years.
Arlene is survived by her children, Melissa (Ron) Blum and Gregg (Chris) Archer. Grandchildren are Allie (Dan), Matt (Emily), Robert (Lydia), Alex (Philippa), Lexie (Justin), Kristin (Dougie), Tyler, Jacklynn (Jacob), Emily, Anthony, Kayden, and Mackenna. Great-grandchildren are Bentley, Paislee, Kinsley, Faith, and Orion. She also had many nieces and nephews, their children, and grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Don (Jean) Bialas of Waterman.
She was preceded in death by her parents Herman and Rose, her sister Berneice Webb, and her beloved husband Bud.
Arlene was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church near Compton, serving as a Sunday School teacher, VBS teacher, choir member, and President and Secretary of WELCA. Arlene graduated from Mendota High School in 1959. She worked for Fasco Mills Co., then at Alexander Lumber Co. as bookkeeper. She worked at various jobs in bookkeeping at Compton Ag Services, Sondgeroth Construction, and Redcliff Construction. She and Bud raised their two children and farmed together by Compton from the mid-1960s until they moved to Mendota in 1994. She then worked for Mendota Lutheran Home as an activity aide for 28 years. She loved camping, working on puzzles, using the computer, doing word searches, and being with her family, grandchildren, and good friends.
Arlene touched a great many lives through her kind, loving, friendly nature, including during all those years as an activity aide at the Lutheran Home. She had a 60-year marriage with Bud that continues to inspire all who knew them. Melissa and Gregg consider her the very epitome of a loving and supportive Mom. She will always be loved and missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
Memorials may be directed to Parkinson's Foundation.
