Mendota with the Revs. Dale
Dykstra and David Tellinghuisen

home.
Arlene was born Nov. 26,
1920, in Wallace Township to
Walter J. and Ida (Lee) Roux.
She graduated from Earlville
Township High School in 1938
and married Willard F. Keen
on March 14, 1943, in Earlville
Presbyterian Church.
Arlene and Willard lived on
three farms during their marriage,
one southwest of Earlville
and two northwest of Mendota.
During that time, Arlene worked
at Hugh Crow Insurance Agency
and Hart Carter Company 1963-
1985. In 1981 after raising three
sons, Arlene and Willard moved
to 910 Fifth Ave., Mendota where
Arlene largely spent her time
gardening, crocheting and attending
auctions. In 2007 Arlene and
Willard moved to Stonecroft
Senior Living where they lived
until Arlene fell and broke one
of her arms. Willard died the
following year and Arlene then
moved into Mendota Lutheran
Home where she remained until
her death.
Arlene was a life member
of First Presbyterian Church,
Mendota, and enjoyed reading,
playing games, entering contests,
conversing with friends and family,
and socializing in general.
Arlene was more concerned with
the treasures that she had stored
up in heaven (Matthew 6:20)
than the material things in life.
She was always fun to be around
because no one ever knew what
she was going to do or say but
whatever it was, it was always
done with love. Arlene had a
great sense of humor, never knew
a stranger and was a wonderful
wife and mother. She will be
terribly missed every day by her
loving family and friends.
She is survived by three sons,
Jim (Paula) Keen of St. Charles,
John (Gloria) Keen of Sugar
Grove and Joe (Judy) Keen of
Morton; six grandchildren,
Maggie Keen, Jamie Keen, Ben
Keen, Meredith Keen, Stephanie
Keen and Eric Keen; four greatgrandchildren,
Jenaka Kotowicz,
Moses Keen, Quincy Keen and
Knox Keen; and one brother,
Walter H. Roux of Monticello.
She was preceded in death by
her husband.
Memorials may be directed
to First Presbyterian Church in
Mendota or Mendota Lutheran
Home.
