Arlene M. Van Meter, 85, of Mendota died Feb. 12, 2015 at Mendota Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 16 at St. John's Lutheran TeDeum Chapel with Rev. Phil Blom officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 15 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota.
Arlene was born April 28, 1929 in Compton to Carl and Anna (Pfeifer) Zinke. She married George C. Van Meter on June 4, 1950 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Compton. He preceded her in death in June of 1997.
Survivors include one daughter, Sue (Herb) Buchanan of Mendota; four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and one daughter-in-law, Vicki Van Meter of Danville.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, George, Jr.; one daughter, Connie Angelo; and one brother, Harold Zinke.
Arlene was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She volunteered at the Mendota Community Hospital gift shop, Nightingales Thrift Shop and the bloodmobile. She was employed by Hart-Carter in Mendota for over 24 years.
