Arlo D. Albers, 77, of Mendota died July 13, 2009, in VA Medical Center, Knoxville, Iowa. Services will be at noon Friday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, with the Rev. Dale Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Compton. Visitation is two hours prior to services Friday in the funeral home. Mr. Albers was born Feb. 19, 1932, in Shell Rock, Iowa, to John and Hazel (Zoller) Albers. He married Donna Kaufmann on March 27, 1960, in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Compton. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and was a draftsman at Conco for 25 years. He was a member of Mendota VFW Post 4079 and Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he was the groundskeeper for the church and parsonage and sang in the church choir. He is survived by his wife; three sons, David Albers of Mendota, Paul (Roxanne) Albers of Compton and Timothy (Paula) Albers of Rochelle; one daughter, Rebecca (Dik) Delhotal of LaMoille; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Elaine (Rev. Herbert) Schiller of Eagle Grove, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials may be directed to the donor's choice.
