Aubri Marie Gonzalez, age 14, of Mendota, passed away on August 2, 2026, in Peoria, Illinois. She is survived by her loving parents, Angel Gonzalez and Anna Francis; her siblings, Abel and Amelia; her maternal grandmother, Joan Francis; her paternal grandparents, Martin and Teresa Gonzalez; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss her dearly.

Born on May 24, 2012, Aubri grew up and lived in Mendota, Illinois—very much a small-town girl. She was looking forward to attending Mendota High School this fall. Aubri was smart, caring, beautiful, and especially strong-willed. She was an amazing sister and a truly loyal friend to those lucky enough to know her. She loved spending time with her family, especially her cousins, with whom she shared a special bond.

In 6th grade, Aubri discovered a love for athletics. She played volleyball and basketball and competed in track, where her competitiveness and athleticism shined through. She was also an excellent student who took school seriously and worked hard to earn good grades, maintaining honor roll status. Aubri spent her life laughing with friends and family. As social as she was, she was also an introvert who enjoyed spending time alone in her room, it was her domain. She loved "Sunday rests," when she could clean and organize her room, allowing only her beloved dog, Kino, to join her. She adored her dog.

Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at the Horner-Merritt Funeral Home, 800 Monroe Street in Mendota, Illinois.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, August 14, 2026 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1010 Jefferson Street, in Mendota with Father Gregory Nelson officiating.
