August 'Gus' E. Zimmermann,
75, of Mendota
passed away peacefully Oct.
3, 2015, in Northwestern
Memorial Hospital, Chicago
while enjoying the Ohio
State Buckeyes' victory.
A Mass of Christian burial
will be at 11 a.m. Thursday
in Holy Cross Church with the
Revs. Bo Schmitt and Leon
Alexander officiating.
Cremation rites will be accorded
after the Mass.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m.
Wednesday at Merritt Funeral
Home, Mendota.
August was born Feb. 26,
1940, in Morgantown, W.V.,
to Emil and Freda (Kaulfuss)
Zimmermann.
He met his only love, Elisabeth
Machmer and they
married May 11, 1963. in
Lancaster, Ohio. They celebrated
their 52nd wedding
anniversary earlier this year.
Gus never met a stranger.
He lived life to the fullest
spending time with family
and friends. He especially
loved time with his grandsons
A.J. and Zach. He was
a member of Holy Cross
Church and Elks Lodge
1212. He will be greatly
missed.
He is survived by his wife
of Mendota; two sons,
Aaron (fiance Celeste M.
Gabel) Zimmermann of
Dallas, Texas, and Adam
(Penny) Zimmermann of
Brimfield; two grandchildren,
A.J. and Zach; his
mother-in-law, Katharina
Machmer of Columbus,
Ohio; and nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in death
by his parents; a stepbrother
Emil Zimmermann Jr.; and
aunts and uncles.
