Ava M. Anderson, 104, of Stonecroft Manor, Mendota died March 15, 2010, in Mendota Lutheran Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Waltham Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Howard Clark Smith officiating. Burial will be at Waltham Cemetery. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Thursday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. She was born Sept. 10, 1905, in Corwith, Iowa, to John and Mary Ellen (Waldron) Thomson. She married Charles Anderson on July 25, 1934. She was a member of Waltham Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Anderson attended La Salle-Peru Township High School and Normal University. She taught at a one-room country school in Waltham Township. She operated a grocery store in Triumph for several years and worked in the admitting office at Mendota Community Hospital for six years before retiring. She is survived by two sons, Roger (Kathy) Anderson of Paw Paw and Arthur (Corinne) Anderson of Plano; four grandchildren, Eric Anderson, Timothy Anderson, Heath Anderson, and Marsha Spidel; seven great-grandchildren Courtney, Nathaniel, Logan, Valerie, Rebecca, Bethany, and Samuel;  three stepgrandchildren Kevin Hawbaker, Karl Hawbaker, and Randy Minor; four stepgreat-grandchildren Allison, John, Kendall, and Mackenna. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1978; three brothers and one sister. Memorials may be directed to the donors choice.
