Barbara J. Stuepfert, 69, of LaMoille
died Feb. 8, 2014, in St. Francis Medical
Center, Peoria.
Services will be at
11 a.m. Thursday in
Zion Lutheran Church
of Clarion, with the
Rev. Kevin Weeks
officiating. Burial will
be at Clarion Lutheran
Cemetery.
Visitation will be
4-8 p.m. Wednesday
in Merritt Funeral
Home, Mendota.
She was born
Aug. 16, 1944, in St.
Charles to Donald L. and Virginia (Kline)
Barkman. She married Alan Stuepfert on
May 17, 1967, in Zion Lutheran Church
of Clarion.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran
Church of Clarion and was active in
various church activities. She helped start
Buffalo Days in LaMoille and served on
the original committee. She also was in
charge of the food stand during the annual
celebration.
A 1962 graduate of LaMoille High
School, she earned her bachelor of arts
degree from Illinois State University,
and returned to teach home economics
at LaMoille High School for 20 years.
She also started the FFA program at the
school and was a chaperone for high
school students on overseas educational
trips.
She is survived by three sons, Jeffrey
(Kristin) Stuepfert and Phillip (Carissa)
Stuepfert, both of Yorkville, and
Douglas (Dr. Nicole Norris) Stuepfert
of Arlington; nine grandchildren; three
sisters, Carol (Richard) Haas of Ohio, Ill.,
Janice Becker and Diana Barkman, both
of LaMoille; and three brothers, Ronald
(Marilyn) Barkman and Charles (Gayle)
Barkman, both of LaMoille, and Stephen
(Brenda) Barkman of Mendota.
She was preceded in death by her parents,
husband and one brother, Donald.
