Barry L. Mahar, 71 of Mendota passed away August 25, 2026 at Allure of Mendota. Barry was born December 16,1954 in Mendota, IL to Don and Baynie Mahar.

Barry attended Mendota schools throughout his early years and worked the majority of his life in construction. Barry met the love of his life the beautiful Steph and they married in 2001. Barry and Steph continued to reside in town and were regular fixtures and known by many. When Steph sadly passed in 2014, Barry continued to reside in Mendota being a great son and helping out his mother. Barry was loved by his family and friends and was feared by some who knew him!!

Barry is survived by his brother Jeff and his wife Christi, along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Don & Baynie; his wife Steph; and his brother, Breck.

Cremation care has been provided by Horner-Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. A public graveside service will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in rural Mendota.
