Bernice M. Laboda, 110, of LaMoille, passed away, Thursday, May 11, 2023 in her home.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota with Rev. Bill Clark officiating. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.

Bernice was born February 9, 1913 in Chicago to John and Catherine (Tomasiewicz) Sliwa. She married John Laboda on September 17, 1938 in Chicago.

Bernice was an extremely hard worker, always wanting to learn new things. She learned how to wood carve and oil paint. Being an avid flower and vegetable gardener, she did a lot of canning. She loved to sew and learned quilting at the age of 80. She loved baking, especially bread. She loved animals, especially her kitties, and living in the country. Bernice was extremely devoted to her grandchildren. She was little but a feisty lady. Rest in peace dear Mom, you earned it.

The Laboda family would like to express their deepest and heartfelt gratitude to OSF Hospice, nurse Andrea, Kellie and Carol and her beloved Pastor Bill. You all have been so kind and helpful to our family.

Bernice is survived by her daughter Diane Laboda of LaMoille; her sons Ron (Judy) Laboda of Cumming Georgia, Mel Laboda of LaMoille and Ray (Lynn) Laboda of Princeton; 4 grandchildren, David (Jackie) Laboda, Kristine (Joe) Crute, Janet (David) Paranteau and Dan (Donna) Laboda and 7 great grandchildren, Ryan and Rachel Laboda, Nathan and Gretchen Crute, Cole Paranteau and Madeline and Ashley Laboda.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1996, her son Dennis Laboda and her grandson Jeffrey Laboda.
