Berniece Beuke, 97, of Mendota died Feb. 12, 2010, in Mendota Lutheran Home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, with the Rev. Michael Morrell officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. She was born July 28, 1912 in Ohio, Ill., to Olaf and Eva (Johnson) Pierson. She married Don Danekas, who died in 1939. She married George Beuke on June 29, 1946. He died in 1987. Mrs. Beuke was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, Mendota; Women of the Moose, Mendota Navy Mothers, the VFW Auxiliary. She had been employed by Wayside Press for 41 years as a proofreader. She is survived by one grandson, Michael Danekas of Mendota; a family friend, Jowanda Villyard of Colorado; nieces, one of whom is Claudette Magnori of Oglesby; nephews, greatnieces and great-nephews. She also was preceded in death by one son, Dale; and an infant daughter, Donna Mae. Memorials may be directed to the family
