Bessie Irene Hamilton, 90, formerly of Mendota died Dec. 15, 2008, in Wausau, Wis. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, with the Rev. G. Duane Hamilton officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation is one hour prior to services Friday in the funeral home. She was born Nov. 16, 1918, in Sciota to Harry C. and Lena Veanne (Norville) Bycroft. She married George E. Hamilton on June 4, 1938, in Burlington, Iowa. Mrs. Hamilton lived in Illinois nearly all her life, moving to Wisconsin a few years after the death of her husband. She was a member of Mendota Bible Church, where she taught Kid's Club for many years. She was employed as a licensed practical nurse at Mendota Community Hospital and Heritage Manor in Mendota until her retirement. She is survived by one son, the Rev. G. Duane (Wilma) Hamilton of Wausau; seven grandchildren; 22 greatgrandchildren; and one greatgreat- grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband on May 27, 1988; one daughter, Virginia Kay England in 1984; and four brothers.
