Betty A. Fassig, 81, of Mendota died July 11, 2016, from injuries sustained in a traffic accident north of Utica.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. John's Lutheran Church, Mendota with the Rev. Janet Lepp officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday at the church. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Betty was born Dec. 7, 1934, in Mendota to Carl and Mabel (Becket) Pohl and lived all of her 81 years in the house she inherited from her parents. She was a 1952 graduate of Mendota High School. She married John Fassig on Sept. 2, 1956, in St. John's Lutheran Church, Mendota.
Betty led an active life in her community. She was a former member of the Mendota Elks Lodge women's bowling team. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she dedicated many years of volunteer service. She also served in several committees and circles. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren's school and extracurricular events.
Betty is survived by one daughter, Paula (Nolan) Hallock of Tonica; one son, Tim Fassig of Princeton; five grandchildren, Shelby, Hayley and Amy Devitt, and Ben and Levi Hallock; one sister, Marian Gross of LaMoille; and one niece and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Amy Wyatt and Kathy Devitt, and one sister, Elaine Zimmerlein.
