Betty A. Halboth, 81, of Mendota Lutheran Home died Aug. 6, 2008, in the nursing home. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, Compton, with the Rev. Dale Johnson officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements were by Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. She was born Feb. 7, 1927, in Walkerville to Latmere and Nancy (Gilleland) Martin. She married Wayne Halboth on June 14, 1958. She received her bachelor of arts degree from Southern Illinois University and a master's degree in education from the University of Illinois. Mrs. Halboth was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was an elementary teacher at Blackstone School in Mendota before her retirement. She is survived by one daughter, Barbara (John) Schrage of Downers Grove; one son, Henry (Geri) Halboth of Lone Tree, Colo.; four grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Reedy of Fresno, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husband in August 1996. Memorials may be directed to Mendota Lutheran Home or Immanuel Lutheran Church of Compton.
