Betty Lou Radefeld, 92, of Mendota passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Franklin Grove Living and Rehab Center.

Funeral services will be Friday, January 6, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota with Rev. Ken Gibson officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral.

She was born January 5, 1930 in Maywood, Illinois to George and Hannah (Vlach) Doll. She married Fred Radefeld on November 13, 1948 in Maywood.

Betty Lou graduated from Riverside-Brookfield High School in 1947. She worked as a secretary for the Principal at Mendota High School, working for Lloyd Doenier and then Robert Cooper. She was the first female dispatcher for the Mendota Police Department. Later she worked as a purchasing agent at HCC Mendota until her retirement.

She is survived by her three children Alan (Paula) Radefeld of Buckeye, Arizona, Kathi (John) Jackson of Mendota and Diane (Jim) Swisher of Peru; 10 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2000, her brothers Roy Doll and Philip Doll and one great grandchild.
