Bill Bromenschenkel Sr., 73, of Mendota died May 24, 2009, in Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Mendota. A memorial service will be at noon Saturday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, with the Rev. Michael Morrell officiating. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mendota, with military rites by Mendota Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4079. Visitation is two hours prior to services in the funeral home. He was born June 4, 1935, in Mendota to Francis and Myrtle (McConnell) Bromenschenkel. He served with the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict. He worked at Caterpillar in Aurora for 30 years before retiring. He was a member of Mendota Elks Lodge 1212. He is survived by two sons, Bill (Jamie) Bromenschenkel Jr. of Peru and Chad (Debra) Bromenschenkel of Mendota; three daughters, Dessa (Bill) Keigley of Mendota, Shelli (Bryan) Henderson of Wyanet and Kara (Calvin) Sellers of Mendota; 13 grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren; and two sisters, Betty (Donald) Abbott of Mendota and Bonnie (Barney) Burnett of Mendota. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials may be directed to American Cancer Society.
