Brenda S. Monkemeyer, 66, of 509 Plaza Drive, Mendota died Dec, 1, 2010, in her residence. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church, Mendota, with the Rev. Glenn Stewart officiating. Burial will be at Restland Memorial Gardens, Mendota. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday at Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. She was born Aug. 7, 1944, in Mendota to Clarence and Pearl (Glidewell) Palmatier. She married Gary Monkemeyer on May 11, 1969, in First United Methodist Church, Mendota. She worked in the cafeteria at Lincoln Elementary School for 25 years, and managed Trojan Video and J C Flicks in Mendota for 10 years. She is survived by one son, William (Johnna) Monkemeyer of Madison, Wis.; one daughter, Holli (Craig) Beenken of Mount Pleasant, Iowa; two granddaughters; one brother, Don (Elaine) Palmatier of Bloomington; and three sisters, Marie (Wayne) Kurz of Ashton, Judy (Jim) Kessinger of Avon, S.D., and Sharon (Ken) Kessinger of Mendota. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1981 and her parents. Memorials may be directed to Illinois Valley Hospice or Graves Hume Public Library in Mendota.
