Obituary

Calvin Glenn Faber, 85, of Sublette passed away Saturday, May 23, 2015, at St. Anthony Medical
Center in Rockford, IL. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 27 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran
Church in Clarion Township with Pastor Kevin Weeks officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery with military honors by Mendota VFW Council #4079.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 26 at Merritt Funeral Home in Mendota.
He was born June 26, 1929 to Glenn and Lorena (Erbes) Faber of La Moille. He married Beverly
Stuepfert on February 12, 1956, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Clarion Township. He was a
1947 graduate of La Moille High School.
Calvin served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954. He was stationed in Germany, rebuilding
bridges in the wake of the Second World War, earning the Occupational and National Defense Service
Medals.
He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Clarion Township where he served as church
council president. He was a member of the American Legion in La Moille, served on the Lee County
Board of School Trustees and was a lifelong farmer in the Sublette and La Moille area. His greatest joy
in life, aside from farming, was watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up.
Calvin is survived by his wife of 59 years, Beverly of Sublette; his three daughters, Lavonne (Richard)
Berkeley of Byron, Valerie Faber of Schaumburg, and Melanie (Timothy) Tomaso of Elk Grove Village;
four grandchildren, Nathan (Natalie) Berkeley, Nicholas (Ashley) Berkeley, and Joseph and Angela
Tomaso; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Fred (Aleta) Faber of La Moille, and sisters-in-law, Marjorie Faber
of La Moille, and Velma Faber of Mendota.
Calvin was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Warren Faber and Willard Faber; and two
sisters, Lola (Leonard) Zimmerlein and Carol Hansen.
Memorials may be directed to the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church or American Diabetes Association.
