Obituary

Carl Bliesener, 69, of Sublette died May 30, 2007, in his home. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 9, in St. John's Lutheran Church, Mendota, with the Rev. Dale Peterson officiating. Interment of ashes will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation is one hour prior to services in the church. Arrangements were provided by Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. Mr. Bliesener was born June 9, 1937, in Moline to Willis C. and Ada (Michelmann) Bliesener. He was a graduate of Wartburg College in Waverley, Iowa, and received his master's degree in education from Eastern Illinois University. He taught chemistry, physics, earth science and math at Mendota High School from 1967-1993. He was also a correspondent for the Mendota Reporter. He was a member of St. John?s Lutheran Church, Mendota Lions Club, and a volunteer for Public Action to Deliver Shelter. He is survived by two daughters, Millicent and Natalie Bliesener, both of Springfield; one sister, Elizabeth Ayres of Springfield, Mass.; and his stepmother, Ethel Freant of Mountain Home, Ark. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials may be directed to Sauk Valley Humane Society or PADS.
