Carl vonDrehle, 91, of Mendota died Sept. 3, 2008, in Mendota Lutheran Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Bache Chapel, Van Orin, with the Rev. Gary Briesacher officiating. Burial will be at Van Orin Repose Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to services in Bache Chapel on Saturday. Funeral arrangements were by Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. Mr. vonDrehle was born May 22, 1917, in Lincoln to Frank and Anna (Schluepe) vonDrehle. He married Hazel Zimmerlein in October 1940. She died in 1987. He later married Cora Sweeden in 1987. She died in 1997. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Ottawa. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was employed by Wayside Press in Mendota for 20 years and owned and operated Radio Taxi in Mendota
for six years. In later years he was employed by Sullivan Foods. He is survived by three nieces and three nephews. In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by one son, Duane; one grandson, one brother and one sister. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, Ottawa.
