Carol A. Nurnberg, 63, of Mendota, died April 25, 2014, at her home. She was born May 9, 1950, in Amboy, to Earl and Margaret (Koehler) Payne. She married Jim Nurnberg on June 26, 1971, in Amboy. She was a graduate of Amboy High School and was employed by Mendota Community Hospital for 23 years as a CNA. She enjoyed craft shows and casinos. Her family was the most important part of her life. She is survived by her husband; children Jennifer (Pete) Haun and Robert Nurnberg, both of Mendota; and grandchildren Blake Thompson and Jocee Haun. She was preceded in death by one son, Joe; her parents; brother Robert Payne; and sisters Mary Gascoigne, Marge Stevens, and Susan Ketchum. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Merritt Funeral Home in Mendota. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. William Clark officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery in Mendota. The family has established a memorial.
