Obituary

Catherine Schillinger, 40, of rural Earlville died March 10, 2010, in her residence. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church, Mendota, with the Rev. Michael Morrell officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Monday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. She was born Oct. 16, 1969, in Blue Island to Lawrence and Rosemary (Kohlmann) Beland. She married Jeff Schillinger on July 20, 1996, in Naperville. She was a graduate of Lincoln-Way High School. She was a teacher's assistant in special education at Minooka High School and a member of the women's committee of the Will County Farm Bureau. She was a parent volunteer at Blackstone and Lincoln grade schools in Mendota and a Cub Scout leader. She was an active member of St. Jude's Catholic Church in New Lenox and currently was a member of Wheatland Salem United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband; one son, Paul, and one daughter, Elizabeth, both at home; her parents, Lawrence and Rosemary Beland of Earlville; two sisters, Terri (Larry) Cook of Elwood and Sharon (Byron) Alonzo of Morris; three brothers, Ken (Hope) Beland of Lockport, Rich Beland of Earlville and Steve (Sara) Beland of Seneca; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents. Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established.
