Charlene Alvina Salecker, 85, of Mendota died Aug. 7, 2015, in Kishwaukee Hospital, DeKalb.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota with the Rev. Dale Dykstra officiating.
Burial will be Thursday at Acacia Park Cemetery, Chicago with Pastor Merritt Berg officiating.
Visitation is two hours prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.
She was born May 5, 1930, in Chicago to Lee and Estmerelda (Trent) Maager. She married Roy Salecker on May 5, 1951, in Chicago.
Mrs. Salecker was employed as a secretary for the FBI in Chicago before starting a family. She was a longstanding member and
deacon of First Presbyterian Church, Mendota. Her hobbies included assembling puzzles, cooking for others, tackling crossword puzzles and taking many
trips to local casinos. She was a very avid sports fan, loved all Chicago teams and never missed a Cubs, Bulls or Bears game. The highlight of her later years was spending time
with her twin granddaughters. She is survived by her husband; four sons, Alan (Linda) Salecker of Des Plaines, Gene (Susan) Salecker of River Grove, Paul (Jakki) Salecker of Forest Park and Greg
(Lisa) Salecker of Villa Park; three grandchildren, Elise Salecker, Casey Salecker and Myahna Salecker; four stepgrandchildren, Chris Russell, Dawn Russell, Steven Jenkins, Taija Jenkins.
She was preceded in death by one son, Gary Salecker in 1964.
