Charles Heller, 81, of Mendota, died Dec. 11, 2007, in Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Mendota. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, with the Rev. Dale Dykstra officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation is one hour prior to services Saturday in the funeral home. Mr. Heller was born May 9, 1926, in Tovey to Charles H. and Celia Heller. He married LaVonne McCann Jarnagin on Sept. 18, 1973, in Mendota. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Mendota, and the American Legion Post in Ladd. He was employed by Black Bros. in Mendota for 42 years before retirement. He is survived by his wife, LaVonne Heller of Mendota; one stepdaughter, Mavis (Randy) Chockley of Lake Zurich; four stepgrandchildren and six stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church, Mendota.
