Charlotte Kennedy, 91, a resident of Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Mendota, died Sept. 13, 2007, in the nursing home. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Waltham Cemetery, Waltham Township with the Rev. Roy Backus officiating. Burial will be at Waltham Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Kennedy was born Dec. 9, 1915, in Utica to George and Ruth (McCauslin) Nelson. She married Barbour Kennedy on Aug. 25, 1940. She was a member of Waltham Presbyterian Church. She was a schoolteacher in Harding, Waltham and Mendota. She served as a librarian before her retirement in 1976. Survivors include one brother, Milton (Joyce) Nelson of California; one nephew; two nieces; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband on June 11, 1995; and one son, James in February 1967. Memorials may be directed to Waltham Presbyterian Church.
