Claremont Mathesius, 81, of Mendota died July 26, 2018, in Heritage Health, Mendota.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Compton with Rev. Jeff Schlesinger officiating. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota is handling the arrangements.

Claremont was born March 8, 1937, in Mendota to Elroy and Alva (Kaufman) Mathesius.He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Compton.

He was employed by Horizon House workshop in Peru for many years.

He is survived by one brother, Dale (Georgia) Mathesius of Mendota; one niece and two nephews.

He was preceded by his parents.
