Clarence Zapf, 87, of Sublette died Jan. 11, 2011, in Mendota Community Hospital. Graveside services with interment of ashes will be May 28, 2011 at 11:00a.m., in St. Mary's Cemetery, Sublette, Il. with the Rev. Max Lasrado officiating. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, assisted the family. Mr. Zapf was born March 17, 1923, in Mendota to Robert and Margaret (Mathesius) Zapf. He married Mary Butler on Aug. 3, 1944, in Sublette. He farmed in Sublette Township his entire life. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Sublette. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Don Zapf of Chillicothe and Steve (Shirley) Zapf of Cicero, Ind.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Memorials may be directed to the donor's choice.
