Clifford H. Bauer, 87, of LaMoille died March 18, 2010, peacefully in his sleep at Liberty Village, Princeton. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Zion Lutheran Church, LaMoille, with the pastor Kevin Weeks officiating. Burial will be at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, LaMoille, with full military rites by VFW Post 4079. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday at the church. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, handled the arrangements. Mr. Bauer was born Feb. 24, 1923, in Bureau County to Clement and Edith (Stuepfert) Bauer. He married Edith Wagner on April 21, 1945, in Zion Lutheran Church. He was born and raised on a farm in rural LaMoille and raised livestock and grew grain all his working life. He was a member of 4-H and won numerous awards and trophies for the Angus cattle he raised. Mr. Bauer was known for his gift of telling stories from his life and for his sense of humor which he shared with all. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, LaMoille, where he was a member of the choir and Lutheran Brotherhood. He served with the U.S. Navy, was a veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion. He also was a member of the Farm Bureau Cattlemen's Association, Elks Lodge of Mendota and the Wildlife Federation. He is survived by one son, Craig (Myra) Bauer of LaMoille; three daughters, Celeste (Dennis) Faber, Constance Bauer and Christa (Ron) Davis, all of LaMoille; nine grandchildren, Danielle (Tony) Herbert, Michelle Bauer, Courtney (Jason) Andrade, Brittany (Matt) Wolff, Byron (Michele) Faber, Ashley (Jason) Ericksen, Clifton Davis, Heath Davis and Andrew Davis; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marge (Martin) Ultch of LaMoille and Virginia Young of Spring Valley; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith (Wagner) Bauer and one grandson, Aaron Faber. Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church in LaMoille, LaMoille Ambulance Service or Bureau Valley Hospice.
