Colleen (Phalen) Greenwood, 71, formerly of Mendota, died Dec.17, 2009 at her residence in Westlake, Texas. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 21 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2016 Willis Lane, Keller, Texas. Interment was at IOOF Cemetery, Westlake, Texas. Visitation was from 4-6 p.m. on Dec. 20 at the J. E. Foust Funeral Home, 523 S. Main Street, Grapevine, Texas. Mrs. Greenwood was born May 29, 1938 in Mendota, the oldest daughter of Gertrude and Robert Phalen. She married William Edward Greenwood on May 7, 1966 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mendota. Survivors include her husband; three children, Susan (Del) McCormick of Billings, Mont., Katherine (Kevin) Oeding of Flower Mound, Texas and John (Wendy) Greenwood of Irving, Texas; eight grandchildren, Mac, Kate and Annaliese McCormick, Caroline and Nicholas Oeding, and Natalie, Will and Matthew Greenwood; one brother, Patrick (Elaine) Phalen of Peru; three sisters, Kathleen (Earl) Curry of Warba, Minn., Coni (Bill) Truty of Mendota and Elaine (Floyd) Setchell of Mendota. Mrs. Greenwood was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend, who always took care of others. She had a creative flair, which manifested itself in her writing, drawing, decorating, gardening and stone work. "Green" or "Gigi," as she was affectionately referred to by her grandchildren, is an inspiration to her entire family who will miss her tremendously.
