Obituary
Craig I. Christman, 77, beloved husband, father, grandfather and best friend, of Peru and formerly of Mendota passed March 26, 2019 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria surrounded by his family.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. There will be no services. Burial will be at private a later date. The celebration will continue in the back room of Sip-n-Snack, Mendota at 4:30 p.m. where everyone is welcome.
Craig was born July 27, 1941 in LaSalle to Nick and Lucille (McDowell) Christman. He married Linda Graper February 2, 1967 at First United Methodist Church, Mendota which started 52 wonderful years of marriage together.
Before his retirement Craig worked as an Ironworker for Local 386. He was a member of Mendota Moose Lodge, social member of Mendota VFW Post 4079, and former member of Mendota Elks Lodge 1212 and Mendota Golf Club where he enjoyed spending his time. He also was member of the Deer Park Radio Control Flyers and enjoyed flying his model airplanes. Craig loved taking care of his family. Heaven received a great man! He will be missed by so many.
He is survived by his wife Linda of Peru; his two daughters Kim Christman of Henderson, NV and Brandi (Jason) Jones of Rockford; his granddaughter Elle Jones and a sister Nancy (Bob) Stevens of Mendota.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Albert.
Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established.
