Daniel L. Randecker, 92 of Mendota, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family on July 23, 2023.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Mendota with Vicar Anthony Windau officiating. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m., prior to services. Burial will follow the service at the Lutheran Cemetery in Mendota with military honors by Mendota VFW Post 4079. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota is assisting the family.

Daniel was born on August 6, 1930 to Daniel and Louise (Zink) Randecker in Mount Carroll, Illinois. He attended Pearl City schools and served in the Army during the Korean War. After returning, he was a dairy farmer. Then Daniel worked as a Teamster before becoming the owner-operator of Randecker Trucking.

He is survived by his wife Rita (Rogers) of 64 years; daughter Amy, (Jeremy) Shapiro of Downers Grove, IL; and son, Jason (Michelle) Randecker of St. Louis, MO. Daniel leaves behind 3 grandchildren; Noah Randecker and Ella and Norah Shapiro. He is also survived by his sister Twila Orth of Freeport, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters; Alice Croffoot, Wilma Hovorka and Mabel Boelk.

Daniel was a loving husband and father. He was a faithful member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He enjoyed time spent with family and friends. Fishing, hunting,
traveling, gardening, mowing, birdwatching and relaxing with his cats were among his favorite pursuits.
