Daniel "Danny" Otis Tastad, Jr., 60, of LaSalle passed away July 25, 2022 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

Funeral services will be Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota with Rev. Jeremiah Parker officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded after the funeral and private burial with military honors by Mendota VFW Post 4079 will be at Troy Grove Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral.

Daniel was born January 21, 1962 in  Mendota to Daniel and Dora (Callahan) Tastad, Sr.

Danny was a 1980 graduate of Mendota High School and attended Illinois Valley Community College. He served in the United States Army. He worked as a machine operator for Nabisco in Marseilles for over 10 years. He was a member of Mendota Moose Lodge. He loved fishing and being outdoors.

He is survived by his mother Dora Planthaber; his daughter Lindsey Tastad of Ottawa; his granddaughter Layna Farrell; two sisters Diane (Jeff) Barhum of El Paso, Illinois and Melissa Zwart of Streator; the mother of his daughter, Rhonda Noto of Ottawa and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1998, his stepfather Harold Planthaber in 2021 and his brother Kenny Bauer.
