Darlene Minnie Rose, 79, of Mendota died peacefully Dec. 30, 2013 at her residence after a long battle with cancer. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Earlville with Rev. Tammy Anderson and Father Jacob Rose officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 3 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. Darlene was born Nov. 26, 1934 in Mendota to Fred and Matilda (Eich) Morsch. She married Donald L. Rose on Oct. 10, 1954 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Mendota. He preceded her in death on Oct. 2, 1996. Survivors include two sons, Ron (Deb) Rose of Mendota and Gary (Rose) Rose of LaMoille; one daughter, Mary (Richard) Warren of Mesa, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, Don (Jill) Rose, Melissa (David) Doll, Adam (Kelly) Rose, Ellen (Mark) Albertson, Father Jacob Rose, Brad Warren and Matt (Carey) Warren; five great grandchildren, Corbin Doll, Sophia and Norah Rose, and Alexandra and Sasha Israel; one sister, Delores Heiman of Mendota; and her special companion, Duane Fassig. She was preceded in death by her husband. Darlene was a graduate of Mendota High School. She was a homemaker and helped her husband with farming. She was employed by Conco, Inc., Classon's Bakery and Buster's Restaurant, all in Mendota. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Earlville and was active in the Ruth Circle and quilting group at the church. She also served as a Sunday school teacher and was on the Altar, Greeting and Funeral committees. She was involved with Home Extension and was a former member of the Mendota Lutheran Home board.
