Darrel W. Rausch, 86, of Mendota died Jan. 25, 2016 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 29 in St. John's Lutheran Church, Mendota with Rev. Janet Lepp officiating. Burial will be at Lutheran Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota.

Darrel was born July 8, 1929 in Sutherland, Iowa to Roy and Melinda (Boese) Rausch. He married Marian Wallace on May 30, 1969 in Polo.

Survivors include his wife of Mendota; six daughters, Rita (Vince) Klechner of Bertram, Minn., Rene (Kenny) Wright of Rock Falls, Rebecca (William) Sanders of Sterling, Sheila (John) Weiler and Teresa Robinson, both of Mendota and Annette (Ron) Smith of Dixon; two sons, Timothy (Rhonda) Carlson of Mendota and Evan (Linda) Carlson of Richmond, Tenn.; one daughter-in-law, Vera Carlson of Freeport; 22 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Val (Bob) Alcorn and Dixie (Ron) Decker, both of Long Prairie, Minn.; and one brother, Thomas Rausch of Roy, Utah.

He was preceded in death by one son, Rodger Carlson; a great-grandson, Dylan Jones; and a son-in-law, Charles Robinson.

Darrel was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He was employed by Wedron Silica before his retirement.
