of Van Orin died Oct. 28,
2015, in Hammond-Henry
Hospital, Geneseo.
A Mass of Christian burial
will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday
in Holy Cross Church, Mendota
with the Rev. Bo Schmitt
officiating. Burial will be
at Van Orin Repose
Cemetery, Van Orin.
Visitation will be 3-6 p.m.
Sunday in Merritt Funeral
Home, Mendota with a
Scripture service at 6 p.m.
Mr. Pakula was born Aug.
20, 1946, in La Salle to Ted
and Polly (Klopcic) Pakula.
He was a member of Sts.
Peter and Paul Catholic
Church, Peterstown. He was
a graduate of St. Bede Academy,
St. Bede Jr. College
and St. Mary's of the Plains
College, Dodge City, Kan.,
with a bachelor of arts degree.
He was very supportive of
St. Bede Alumni Association.
He taught at Van Orin
Grade School and later at
Allen Grade School in LaMoille.
Most recently he was a
volunteer at Holy Cross
Grade School in Mendota.
He was a member of LaMoille
Lions Club and very
active in the Teens Encounter
Christ and Cursillo programs.
He enjoyed playing golf
and following sports in general.
He is survived by two
brothers, Ken Pakula of
Rockford and Fr.
Michael Pakula of Geneseo;
one niece, Kristine (Don)
Kammerer; one nephew,
Dan (Michelle) Pakula; one
great-niece, Maddy; and
great-nephews, Joe and Jack.
He was preceded in death
by his parents.
The preferred form of remembrance
would be memorials
to the Dave Pakula
Memorial Fund.
