David W. Stockhus, 65, of Mendota died May 1, 2017 in his home.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 12:00p.m., in the First Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Susan Presley officiating. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota is handling arrangements.

David was born May 25, 1951 in Ottawa to William and Nancy (Conkey) Stockhus. He married Cindy Rishel in Wisconsin in 1977.

David grew up in Mendota where he began school. He graduated Shorewood High School in Wisconsin in 1969. He graduated from UW-Whitewater University in 1974 with a degree in Art Education.

He returned to the University in 1977 to begin a graduate program in Special Education.He spent most of his teaching career at Watertown High School in Wisconsin. David enjoyed coaching wrestling, baseball and swimming.He loved his family, his many dogs and had a passion for music of all genres.

He is survived by his wife of Mendota; two sons Mark Stockhus and Tyler (Becky) Stockhus both of Watertown, WI.; brother Mark (Kathryn) Stockhus of San Francisco, CA.; grandchildren Brynn, Chloe, and Brady Stockhus; niece Caroline and nephew Jonathan.

He was preceded in death by his father and his mother Nancy Payne.
