July 16, 2012, in Heritage
Health, Mendota.
Services will be at 11 a.m.
Thursday in Immanuel
Lutheran Church of Compton
with the Rev. Steve Dow officiating.
Burial will be at
Immanuel Lutheran
Cemetery, Brooklyn
Township, with military rites
by VFW Post 4079.
Visitation is one hour prior
to services Thursday at the
church. Funeral arrangements
were provided by Merritt
Funeral Home, Mendota.
He was born Dec. 5, 1918,
in Compton to George and Iva
(Dean) Kromm. He married
Helen Schlesinger on Dec.
12, 1948, in Immanuel
Lutheran Church of Compton.
He served in the Army Air
Corps in World War II in the
European Theater of
Operations. He was a graduate
of Mendota High School
and member of VFW Post
4079. He farmed in the
Sublette and Compton areas.
He is survived by one son,
Kim (Cathy) Kromm of
Amboy; one daughter, Kay
Kromm of Rockford; two
grandchildren, Abbi Kromm
and Alyx Martinez; and one
great-grandson, Luca Xavier
Martinez.
He was preceded in death
by his wife on June 20, 2011;
and three brothers, Edward,
Dale and Roy. Memorials may be directed to Mendota VFW Post 4079 or the donors choice.
