Obituary

Delphan R. Schlesinger, 94, of Sublette
died June 4, 2013, in Heritage Health,
Mendota.
Private services will be in Immanuel
Lutheran Church of Compton with the Rev.
Jamie Wallace officiating. Burial will be at
Restland Cemetery, Mendota. His six grandchildren
will serve as his pallbearers.
Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota provided
the arrangements.
Delphan was born
Sept. 7, 1918, in Sublette
to Edwin and Hattie
(Kessel) Schlesinger. He
married Arlene Pierce
on Feb. 21, 1941, in
Immanuel Lutheran
Church of Compton.
He was a graduate of
Mendota High School.
He was a dairy farmer
in the Sublette area and
also was employed by Illinois Department of
Transportation until retiring in 1982. He was
a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of
Compton and served on the church council.
He is survived by one daughter, Sharon
(Robert) Kellen of Sublette; two sons, Randy
Schlesinger of Sublette and Gale (Jeanne)
Schlesinger of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; six
grandchildren, Brent Ehlers, Brad Ehlers,
Holli Tongate, Brandon Schlesinger, Derek
Schlesinger and Kendra Preston; and nine
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife on
July 29, 2012; one sister in infancy; and one
brother, Babe.
Memorials may be directed to Immanuel
Lutheran Church of Compton.
