Obituary

Dennis "Dick" Hasse, 82, of Mendota died peacefully on June 11, 2012 at OSF St. Francis Hospital, Peoria surrounded by his loving family. His body was donated to the Anatomical Gift Association in Chicago for research. A private family service will be held with Rev. Dale Peterson officiating and military rites provided by Mendota VFW Post 4079. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery at a later date. Mr. Hasse was born Nov. 11, 1929 in Sleepy Eye, Minn. to Martin M. and Elsie (Schmidt) Hasse. He married Donna Appel on May 15, 1954 in Rochester, Minn. Survivors include his wife; one son, John Hasse of Mendota; three daughters, Connie Serrano and Dawn Hasse Larkin, both of Mendota, and Lorie (Larry) Corrigan of Ft. Meyers, Fla.; three sisters, Inez Gehrke of Iowa City, Iowa, Dorothy Parker of Churubusco, Ind. and Marjorie (Edward) Tradup of Brewster, Wash.; five grandchildren, Rachel Green, Sonia Johnson, Nick (Nora) Serrano, Jessica (Sharon) Serrano and Meagan Hasse; six great grandchildren, Monika Johnson, Abram Green and Janaeya, Millie, Arianna and Nevaeh Serrano. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and three brothers. Mr. Hasse served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He worked as a supervisor/foreman at Del Monte for 31 years retiring in 1987. He was a member of Mendota VFW Post 4079 and Mendota Elks Lodge 1212. Memorials may be directed to the Illinois Veterans Home at LaSalle.
