Dennis "Denny" E. Weiler, 72 of Compton went to be with his Heavenly Father on February 2, 2021 at OSF St. Anthony's Medical Center, Rockford.
A public visitation will be Saturday, February 13, 2021 from 9:30 a.m until 12:30 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, of Compton. Masks are required and social distancing encouraged. A private family only service will follow with Rev. Jeff Schlesinger officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded after the service and private burial of ashes will be held at a later date. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota is assisting the family.
Denny was February 7, 1948 in Mendota to Clayton and Betty (McCully) Weiler. He and Patricia Hoerner were united in marriage on July 29, 1978 at St. Mary's Church in West Brooklyn.
Denny was a 1966 graduate of Mendota High School. He worked at Kaiser Implement in Mendota while in high school. From there he went to St. Louis, Missouri to study at mechanics school and completed one year before enlisting in the United States Air Force. While in the service he was called home to take over the farming business for his family. His career in farming lasted 51 years. He belonged to the American Legion Post #657 and was also a member of the board of the Compton Fire Department. He never wanted to be idle. His hobbies included wood working, fishing and actively talking to his family and friends. Dennis was a devoted and loyal husband to his wife and father to his two daughters. He was also a devoted worshipper. Always remembered and never forgotten!
Dennis is survived by his wife Patricia of Compton; two daughters Laura (Joe) Weiler and Christine Weiler both of Compton; two sisters Debbie DaRosa of Hickory, North Carolina and Denise Weiler of Peoria, Arizona; nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and an aunt and uncle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Eugene Jones, sister, two brothers in law and a nephew.
