Donald W. Ayers, 78, of Sublette died Jan. 9, 2009, in Amboy Rehabilitation Center. There will be no funeral. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Tuesday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. Mr. Ayers was born July 4, 1930, in Lee County to Roy G. and Edith (Irwin) Ayers. He married Florence Clark on Sept. 30, 1950, in Mendota. He graduated from Mendota High School in 1948 and farmed in the Sublette area his entire life. He raised and showed registered shorthorn cattle. He is survived by his wife of Sublette; two daughters, Kathy (Dennis) Politsch of Mendota and Janet (James) Nagel of Princeton; four grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; one brother, Loren (Marion) Ayers of LaMoille; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Memorials may be directed to the donor's choice.
