Donald J. Bieser,
89, of Mendota died
Nov. 18, 2013, in his residence.
Services will be at noon
Friday in St. John's Lutheran
Church, Mendota with the
Rev. Dale Peterson officiating.
Burial will be at Restland
Cemetery, Mendota with military
rites by VFW Post 4079.
Visitation will be from 9:30
a.m. until time of services
Friday in the church. Merritt
Funeral Home, Mendota provided
the arrangements.
Mr. Bieser was born Nov.
14, 1924, in Mendota to
Henry W. and Sadie (Arndt)
Bieser. He married Patricia
Frizol on March 31, 1948, in
Holy Cross Church, Mendota.
He graduated from
Mendota High School in
1942.
He served in the U.S.
Navy in the Pacific Theater
of Operations on board the
USS Buoyant. He served on
the VFW Post 4079 Memorial
Squad for many years. He
also was a life member and
past commander of the Post.
He was a member of Elks
Lodge 1212. He was a member
of St. John's Lutheran
Church where he served on
the church council and was
council president in 1964.
He farmed in the Mendota
area for more than 30 years
and was employed by the
city of Mendota in the street
department for eight years
before retiring.
He is survived by his wife;
one son, Dennis (Debbie)
Bieser of Mendota; four
daughters, Jeri (Sam) Surovy
of Danbury, Conn., Linda
(Larry) Lindemier of West
Brooklyn, Sarah (Vernon)
Pfeifer of Paw Paw and
Joanne (Lou) Lentz of Cary;
eight grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren; three sisters,
Vera Schlesinger, Helen
Sondgeroth and Marjorie
Fassig, all of Mendota; and
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death
by one grandson; one daughter,
Jan; five brothers, Gilbert,
Wesley, William, Dean and
one brother in infancy; and
two sisters, Gertrude Frey and
Beverly Schlesinger.

to St. John's Lutheran Church,
the VFW Memorial Squad or
the donor's choice.
