Hospital, Mendota. Mass of
Christian Burial will be
10:30a.m., Tuesday, in St.
Mary's Church, West Brooklyn
with the Rev. Randy
Fronek
officiating.
Burial
will take
place in
Holy
Cross
Cemetery,
Mendota.
Visitation
will be
from 4-8
p.m. Monday in Merritt Funeral
Home, Mendota. He
was born Aug. 12, 1929, in
West Brooklyn to Jacob and
Theresa (Untz) Henkel. He
married Elaine Leffelman
on Aug. 26, 1950 in Maytown.
He was a member of
St. Mary's Church, West
Brooklyn. He was a graduate
of Mendota High
School. He was a member
of the Holy Name Society,
Knights of Columbus, Order
of Foresters, Mendota Elks
Lodge 1212, and a West
Brooklyn Twp. official for
32 years. He sold electric
welding for Forney Arc
Welders and farmed in the
West Brooklyn area. He especially
enjoyed fishing and
traveling with his wife
throughout the U.S.
He is survived by his wife;
two daughters, Susan
(Michael) Pratt of Dixon
and Sharon (Frank) Ruffalo
of Elgin; one son, Dennis
(Diane) Henkel of West
Brooklyn; 9 grandchildren,
Andy and Peter Pratt, Ryan,
Zach and Devin Henkel,
Laurie Walscheid, Holly
Gabrys, Lisa Jones, and
Katy Faber; 14 great-grandchildren
and one daughterin-
law, Paula Pinter of West
Brooklyn.
He was preceded by one
son, Dean; one grandson,
Nathan Henkel; one son-inlaw,
Scott Diedrick; two
brothers, Arthur and Leo
Henkel; two sisters, Cecelia
Funfsinn and Letha Klein.
