Donald 'Doc' Lemmer, age 93, of Sublette, passed away July 15, 2023 at Allure Health in Mendota.

Doc was born August 1, 1929, in Sublette to Arthur and Lulu (Sieling) Lemmer. He grew up on a small farm in Maytown, Illinois with his many siblings. On October 2, 1954, he married Dorothy Bonnell at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Sublette.

He is survived by his 5 children: Karen Lemmer of Sublette, Gary (Debbie) Lemmer, Robert (Amanda) Lemmer, Jeffrey Lemmer of Sublette and Brenda Lemmer of Sublette. He is also survived by his younger brother, Norman (Sharon) Lemmer of Mendota. Throughout the years his family was enriched by his grandchildren, Amy, Jessica, Megan, Dustin, Morgan, Joshua, Andrea K., Jacob, Andrea B, Samantha, Mitchel, Alison and Jackson. He had 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy in 2019, his parents, his four sisters (Anna Wells, Gladys Eccles, Florence Vergin, and Mabel Kirby) and six of his brothers (Otto, Ralph, Louis, Delmar, Marlin and George).

Donald served in the United States Army and was stationed in Alaska during the Korean Conflict. He was employed by Del Monte in Mendota from 1956 until retirement in 1983. In 1969, he with the help of his brother Delmar and other relatives built the family home in Sublette. He enjoyed the month of May when over the years he would take vacation to landscape and plant his garden. As a youngster and throughout the years, he rode motorcycles. Other hobbies were building and flying radio control airplanes and working on computers.

Funeral services will be held at the Merritt Funeral Home in Mendota on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. with Father Peter Pilon officiating. Burial will be at Union Cemetery, LaMoille with military honors by Mendota VFW Post 4079. Visitation will be Friday, July 21, 2023 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
