Donald E. Nettleton, 76, of Mendota died July 5, 2017 at OSF St. Anthony's Medical Center, Rockford.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota with Rev. Larry Sheaves officiating. Cremation rites will be follow the services and interment in Restland Cemetery, Mendota will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Friday in the funeral home.

Donald was born November 28, 1940 in Belvidere to Clarence Jr. and Mildred (Northrup) Nettleton. He married Myrna Funkhouser July 14, 1963 in Belvidere. He was a graduate of Belvidere High School. He was employed by Hart-Carter, Mendota from 1973 until 2006 as a supervisor. He was a member of the Mendota Moose Lodge.

He is survived by one son, Kevin (Deb) Nettleton of Mendota; one daughter, Cindy Nettleton Malach of Mendota; 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; one brother, Kenneth (Wallie) Nettleton of Belvidere; nieces and nephews; and good friend, Lorraine Blaser.

He was preceded by his parents, his wife on February 9, 1987, one sister, Lois and  his step-father, Elmer Woods.
