Donna M. (Chaon) Johnson, 75, of Mendota passed away June 11, 2015, in OSF Saint Paul Medical Center in Mendota.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 am Monday, June 15th in Holy Cross Church, Mendota with Father Bowan Schmitt officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in West Brooklyn.
Visitation will be 2-5 pm Sunday, June 14th at Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota with the recital of the Rosary at 1:30 pm.
She was born on November 4, 1939 in West Brooklyn to Oliver and Alberta (Dinges) Chaon. She married George Johnson on October 3rd, 1964 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Brooklyn.
Donna loved people and was her happiest when she was around her friends and family. Her three grandchildren were her greatest joy. Donna served the people of LaSalle County for several years as the Circuit Clerk. She was also a Mendota alderwoman serving the World's Greatest Little City. Her final and most enjoyed job was serving the many people of Mendota as a teller at the First State Bank. Donna was a member of Holy Cross Parish in Mendota, the Catholic Order of Foresters and a lifetime Mendota Trojan fan.
Survivors include her husband of Mendota and her four children, Jeff (Kim) Johnson of Wauconda, IL; Deb (Mike) Muhlstadt of Mendota; Vicki Johnson of Mendota and Doug (Teresa) Johnson of Aurora, CO; her grandchildren Jarred, Abby and Kyla; and her sister Darlene Gehant of West Brooklyn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandson Dominic Johnson and her sister Rose Marie "Rosie" MacKay.
